“90% Syrah, I0% Cabernet Franc from the 2021 vintage. Syrah underwent 30% whole-bunch fermentation before being matured in mostly older 600-litre barrels for I2 months; Cabernet Franc matured for I8 months in a new 300-litre barrel. Intensely aromatic with notes of flowers, herbs, red and black berries plus white pepper. The palate is taut and youthful - pure fruit, great energy and a super-dry finish.”
Wildeberg Red Franschhoek - Wildeberg is a small farm in Franschhoek. Only 10ha can be planted to vines, the rest is wild. The fruit for the Wildeberg wines comes from the Franschhoek Valley only, hand-harvested, naturally-fermented and gently matured in a mountain barrel hall on the farm.
The nose of fresh crushed raspberries veiled with white pepper is hypnotic and sensual, whilst the palate has breadth, natural juiciness but equally a generosity of depth and layer.
