Here's what they said:
Forbes Magazine: "Domaine les Evigneaux. Rasteau AOP. 2019. 94 points. [Superlative Value]. A Grenache/Syrah/Mourvèdre/Carignan/Cinsault blend from predominantly old bush vine grapes aged in stainless steel, oak and 800-liter amphorae. Crunchy Grenache aromas are dominant, but other aromas are rich, slightly volatile and include red cherries and orange peel."
Wine Enthusiast Magazine: "Salty notes of crushed earth and flecks of clay accent decadent flavors of blackberry and raspberry preserve in this textured, balanced blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. A consistent overachiever among basic bottlings from Rasteau, it shows off the complexity of terroir in this exciting cru appellation. At peak now, the wine should improve through 2026 at least."
Domaine Les Evigneaux Rasteau - Rich, brambly full-bodied but not over-blown red from this excellent and fairly new Rhône Cru.
The nose is complex with notes of blackcurrant, raspberry and a hint of vanilla. The palate is a winning contrast of fruit and meaty notes, with robust but well integrated tannins.
This wine is more versatile than you may expect. Sure fire hits are beef stew (of course), hard, strong cheeses, grilled vegetables and even Christmas cake!
