Our Plaimont Moonseng Manseng Noir Merlot 2020 has been named 'Wine of the Week' by at least two wine critics; wine writer Joanna Simon and Matt Nixson in the Daily Express.
Joanna Simon: “A unique blend of merlot and the obscure manseng noir, producing a red of energising freshness with succulent sour-cherry and blackberry fruit and a touch of spicy liquorice. The USP of manseng noir, which was saved from extinction by the pioneering Plaimont group, is freshness, soft tannins and low alcohol. That said, the 2020 blend is higher in alcohol than in its two predecessors. Try it with bresaola, smoked duck breast, other dried and cured meats and goat’s cheese..”
Daily Express - Matt Nixson: "[Made from the] lesser known manseng noir, a Spanish grape mostly grown in France and sometimes known as black manseng, is ripe and delicious with red fruits and a spicy finish."
Plaimont Moonseng Manseng Noir Merlot - This is a dark-coloured, silky-textured wine. The nose is full of red fruit with notes of black tea and the characteristic very spicy green pepper. The freshness of this blend is instantly evident on a palate along with silky tannins.
