Chateau de Belleverne Chenas Beaujolais
Chateau de Belleverne, Chenas Beaujolais - This was a truly exceptional vintage for Beaujolais and if there’s such a thing as Blockbuster Beaujolais, this is it. Deep and beetroot stained, the palate is ripe and plush with gorgeous velvety texture.
Chenas is the lowest production cru in Beaujolais with soils that are mainly granite and schisms of schist. Granite and Gamay go hand in hand due to its high quartz content; quartz soils are generally poor (great for vines), drain really well and, most importantly, when rain meets quartz you get silicic acid. What you really need to know is that it is a great bottle of Beaujolais wine!
