Domaine Tournon Shay's Flat Pyrenees Shiraz
Sommelier Wine Awards 2019 - Gold Medal Winner
‘Great nose of sour cherry, blackberry, mushroom and truffle,’ said Gian Giacomo Stella of Simpsons Restaurant, while Charlie Carter of Ten Green Bottles described a ‘richly stewed dark fruit palate with a menthol and eucalyptus finish’.
Domaine Tournon Shay's Flat Pyrenees Shiraz - This lovely wine displays a complex array of black fruit, cherry, tobacco and liquorice flavours, braced by delicate and silky tannins which give the wine a supple and generous mouthfeel. Savoury and mineral notes come through, with the perfectly balanced acidity adding freshness to the finish.
Michel Chapoutier established Tournon in 2007 shortly after purchasing 50 hectares of property in the heart of the Victorian Pyrenees and Heathcote. He recognized that the cool weather patterns and remarkable diversity of soil and exposures in this region would allow him to make distinctive wines from the Syrah/Shiraz grape of his homeland utilizing his biodynamic winegrowing philosophy.
