James Suckling MW: "Marananga sourced, this is a wine of polish and considerable largesse. Coffee grind American oak aromas shift to licorice, blue fruit allusions and kirsch, with dried thyme, lavender and iodine at the back end. A burr of heat across the forceful finish, that is admirably, both detailed and long. A wine for the hedonist that will age well."

Halliday Wine Companion 2025: "A Marananga shiraz aged in French and American oak for at least 18 months. Deep magenta/crimson with aromas of plush cassis, blueberry and blackberry fruits and hints of dark chocolate, ironstone, licorice, cedar, wood spice, graphite and earth. Full bodied and rich, with ferrous-edged, powdery tannins and an almost creamy, chocolatey angle to its flow across the palate, finishing with plush, velvet-like fruit."

The Real Review: "Deep, bright, concentrated plummy fruit aromas—black plums with touches of licorice and fruitcake, dried fruits included. The wine is very big and slightly alcohol-warm on the finish, with a sweet fruit core, dense and chewy in texture but the tannins are nicely polished and balanced. A concentrated, essency shiraz of quality and potential."

The Hillside Shiraz was sourced from the best west-facing hillside Marananga block, right in the heart of Barossa. Aged in French and American oak for at least 18 months, this wine is crafted to last the distance and is to be enjoyed in life's finer moments.
